Wowed by Jordan Ferney's (over at Oh Happy Day) DIY fringey streamers, I decided to try them myself for Susanna's birthday.
Here's Jordan's blog post about her streamers.
I didn't have time to order the sheets of crepe paper (I could only find them online), so I was stuck with the rolls. I did get them for 50 cents each though, which was awesome!
I started out with 4 rolls of crepe paper and scissors.
Then I folded lengths of the crepe paper back and forth in 12-inch long strips until I had about 8 layers. Very carefully, I fringed the edges (if I wasn't careful, I'd cut one of the folds and lose half my length).
I fringed for a while. I forgot what it felt like to use scissors for that long.
Here's the final project: Susanna's decorated dorm room door. I wish I had fringed more crepe paper (the strips in front of the door aren't fringed), but I ran out of time the night before. But I love the texture of both the fringed + smooth.
Do ya'll like it? I think it makes crepe paper so funky and fun!
till tomorrow,
Rebecca
