a cozy and colorful home

I’m incredibly thankful that I had the opportunity to visit with some friends last Friday night.  We were in a real home, not a dorm room or a coffee shop {which are welcoming in their own little ways}.  We ate scrumptious food.  We listened to music and we made beautiful things.  And we did this all in a space that was cozy, loved, homemade, inspirational and beautiful.  Basically, when I walked into Cate’s house, there was oohing and aahing for about 30 minutes {ok, it was more like the entire time} as I noticed things here and there.
As we were walking in her front door, Cate warned about her attacking plants.  But her green jungle was refreshing.  I enjoy seeing bright green plants in the middle of the winter.  And this little guy was harmless.

She’s got some incredible {authentic} Mexican influences.  Look at the blanket draped over the couch.  It was a gift from her husband’s family in Mexico – they’re missionaries.  Also, talk about resourceful: 1. the couch & love seat {unseen}: Craig’s list – $50; 2. the rustic coffee table bench: found {tattered and in need of tlc} behind a house – free.  Cate scraped and scrubbed and loved that bench and voila – look at it now!

A colorful {and textured} apron.  Fun!!  And aprons are so cute and feminine.

One of Cate’s wedding presents: magnetic spice tins {a great space-saver & easy to see when you’re almost out}.  I will make these someday.

A vibrantly green aloe plant.  Every home needs an aloe plant!  And my feet in my favorite new shoes – a $2 thrift store find!

Hope you find Cate’s home cozy and colorful.

till tomorrow,

Rebecca
