hand painted invitations

My weekend began Friday at 5 when I handed in my draft 20-page paper.  What an awesome feeling!  Then, I sat down with my friend Jill and we watched To Catch a Thief {with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly <3} while we painted these incredible invitations for the Faculty Appreciation Reception I’ve been planning.

Here are some pics of the process.  Hope you enjoy!

I designed these invitations using Microsoft Word, and had them printed at my school {total cost for invites: $4}.  I am really happy with the final product.  I wanted the invites to be colorful and each have a unique, handmade feel.
Here’s my Pinterest Board for the Faculty Appreciation Reception.  Theme for the reception: think {subdued} Mexican fiesta.  I am open to any *cheap* design/party decoration ideas.  Any suggestions?  I want this to be beautiful and yet very fun!
How was your weekend?  Hopefully lovely!
till tomorrow,

Rebecca

I loved this idea Becca! It was such a fun relaxing night 🙂

side note: I made it into your blog, yay!

  5. Cossette says:

It's really easy to make flowers out of tissue paper. You take a rectangle of tissue paper, fold it like an accordian, then fold the accordian in half and tie the creased area with wire or a pipe cleaner. Then trim the ends any way you like–pointed or rounded–and unfold the accordian, spreading the "petals" until you have a flower shape.

  6. Collections says:

I love the movie to catch a thief! I can't believe you did all these invitations by hand incredible.

I'm having a $100 dollar Shopbop giftcard GIVEAWAY on my blog! Come check it out 🙂 It's open to international bloggers as well.
