meet Wendy!

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?

Today, I have the privilege of introducing you to my friend Wendy Thomas.  Wendy is an up-and-coming entrepreneur (stay tuned for the opening of her Etsy shop!), a wife, & mother of two beautiful children (both of whom she homeschools!).  I have admired Wendy’s incredible (and daring) fashion and design ventures for as long as I’ve known her.

Last week we got together and had over 5 hours of photography fun.  It all started with a photo shoot of her home.  And it got really fun when we decided to do some prop styling.  I also got to ask Wendy some fun questions!  Everything was so natural and easygoing.  I just love the pictures of Wendy and her children.

I hope you enjoy getting to know Wendy.

And here’s my little interview with Wendy:

Which piece in your home do you love the most?
Oh!  My couch.  It’s my dream couch – taupe colored linen – and what I’ve always wanted.  It’s also my first real good purchase.  It’s Belgium linen – from Restoration Hardware.  It’s big,  comfortable and the whole family can fit on it.

In about two sentences, how would you describe your personal style?
It’s sophisticated, eclectic, unpredictable and fun … definitely not too serious.  I always want my children to be seen throughout my home.

Do you have any advice for the bargain hunter?
Go often.  Go with an open mind; don’t anticipate finding exactly what you’re looking for.  I tell myself “I can’t wait to see what fun thing I’ll walk home with.”  Don’t bring anything into your home that you don’t absolutely love.

What do you love most about interior design?
I love mixing and matching materials together.  I love textiles.  I love having an idea and then enjoying the final product with my family and friends.

Any parting words?
Follow what your heart is telling you and follow your own tastes.  Don’t take design and decorating too seriously – enjoy yourself and your own style.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this treat…I sure have!
till tomorrow,
Rebecca
P.S. More fun photos are coming soon!
