a surprise picnic

One of my sweet readers asked about a birthday picnic and scavenger hunt for her boyfriend.  She wants to lead him around to a few places that have been meaningful in their relationship with clues at each place – all leading him to a picnic.

I love picnics (had one in Georgetown a few months ago with some friends) and surprises, so I put together a little picnic to help Page with some ideas.

All photos by Rebecca Beach for A Daily Something.

I had a blast putting this picnic together.  🙂

Page, I used ribbon for my picnic, but I love your idea of leading your boyfriend to the park with clues. You could leave him little handwritten love notes, too.  That’d be romantic!
All of my decorations were collected at thrift shops, rummage sales, and yard sales.  The picnic blanket is vintage and was handmade by my mom’s old friend.  You can see the hand stitching in the closeup of the quilt.
In my opinion, you can never have too much gorgeous at a picnic.  Why not make it as luxurious as possible?  I’d recommend that you bring vintage or colorful books (I think they add an element of manliness), pillows (for comfort and beauty!), some of his favorite food (a picnic’s not a picnic without food…) and a few delicious drinks.
Hope this helps you put together a wonderful surprise for your man, Page!  Send me pictures when you’re done.  🙂
till Monday,

    Thanks Phoebe and Ian!

I was able to sit down with my nephew, Isaac, and munch on those strawberries after I was finished with the pictures 🙂
