thrifty entertaining | a table centerpiece

Creating a simple yet unique table centerpiece is one of my favorite parts of entertaining.  So when I noticed (by stepping on…ouch!) these Chinese chestnut fruits, which were ripening and falling off their tree at my boyfriend’s parents’ house in West Virginia, I knew I had to use them to create a quirky centerpiece.
I love pairing the sharp, porcupine-like fruits with the sleek apothecary jar and thrifted English candle holders.  Using touches of nature inside the home is not only resourceful, but it keeps me inspired and in awe of Creation!
Collecting candle holders (I usually go for the brass and silver) is one of my obsessions.  I purchased both of these sets at one of my favorite thrift shops in Northern VA, while they were having a half-off sale.  (If you couldn’t already tell, I love to shop at thrift stores.)  And I purchased that giant apothecary jar (you may recognize it from my family reunion decorations) at 70% off.  Love me some bargains.

What are some of your favorite [thrifted] entertaining finds?

till tomorrow,

Rebecca

P.S. If you missed my first “thrifty entertaining” post, read all about how to entertain with a simple snack tray.

Oooh I love this centerpiece. It has a terrarium feel to it and I love me some terrariums. I recently thrifted some cute down tree branches and arranged them in a vase. It added some character to the room =)
