thrifty entertaining | the little details

Next time you’re at the thrift store, don’t forget to look for a small but important element of entertaining: drink coasters.  A few weeks ago, I found 6 of these little tortoise shell treasures.  I scoured them up and looked at the bottom, but couldn’t quite make out the designer’s name.  I bought all 6 for $1, happy to have vintage-looking coasters.

When I arrived home, I deciphered the designer’s name: Georges Briard.  Apparently (you may already know this, but I was clueless), he was a famous designer during the 50s, 60s and 70s; he created bar, glass and dinnerware products.

So stoked for this new find!

Next time I entertain, I’ll bring out my new Georges Briard tortoise shell coasters.  They’ll help protect the furniture and look stylish in the meantime.

Don’t forget to think about the small details when you’re at the thrift store – it’s amazing what you might find with a little persistence and some creativity!

till tomorrow,
Rebecca
