thrifty entertaining | the tea pot

Call me obsessed with clear glass teapots and I’ll readily agree. I’ve found all mine at thrift stores, which makes it even more of an addictive hobby. I bought this teapot with no lid. I didn’t have a plan for a lid, but figured I’d come up with something. My friend Wendy suggested cork, and I had just the right size. How perfect?! When you thrift, keep your mind open…if you love something and it’s missing a part, you might be able to improvise at home!

What I love about these glass teapots…they are gorgeous when empty and sitting on my shelf. And when I pour the boiling water into the tea leaves, the water gradually turns an exciting color. Sometimes a vibrant pink, sometimes only pale green. But a gorgeous transition, nonetheless.

Some mornings, when I don’t want coffee, I like to sit down in front of the wood stove at the dining room table, boil some water, and watch the water change colors. Then I check my email, read a bit, and look at all your blogs. 🙂 It’s been so chilly this Spring, that I’m still drinking tea on May 4. It’s lovely. I almost don’t want to change this routine, so stick around, chilly mornings.

What are your plans for this weekend? I’m heading to NOVA (Northern Virginia) for an alumni event at my college, a going away party for my bestie Susanna, and I’ll be working on a collaboration with Carissa and Carrie. I’m kinda sorta totally excited about the next few days.

Have a blessed weekend,
Rebecca

Thrifting is always fun and exciting, 🙂 Looks like you found yourself a beauty. It's still chilly around my parts (Washington) as well, so I couldn't help but laugh as you mentioned you're still drinking tea (I'm currently staring at my hot cup of coffee as I type this). I hope you have a lovely weekend girl, xoxo.

I agree, these chilly mornings are fine by me as long as I can have a cup of tea. And I love your glass teapot. I think the cork top is my favorite part. Good find!

  9. I just love it–and a good cup of tea!

What a great idea to use a cork, it reminds me of those beverage dispensers from Anthropolgie that are so lovely and asymmetrical.
