thrifty entertaining | the percolator

I love a gorgeous coffee maker. This Pyrex beauty belongs to my friend Wendy, who thrifted it for $7 (she let me borrow it!). I love how the different parts look like a chemistry set.

There’s nothing like watching your coffee begin to boil, and then turn from a light brown to a deep and delicious coffee brown!

Recently, I’ve been making a point to wake up early, enjoy a cup of coffee, and just appreciate my surroundings. Coffee tastes so much better relaxing at the kitchen table in front of a vase of flowers, listening to our steer “moooo” from the back field, than it does driving in my car, juggling my to-go cup, mascara, and phone.

Do you have a favorite way to make your coffee? Please share!!

Hope your Wednesday is blessed, friends!
Rebecca

This is a great morning ritual! I'm in a tea phase right now, but I love coffee when the weather takes a turn for the chilly.

  2. Haha, it really looks like a chemistry set! 🙂 I'm more of a tea lover, but I also love to drink a cup of tea first thing in the morning, in peace and without rushing anywhere.

I dig making Turkish coffee in my copper ibrik. Side note – pretty sure juggling your mascara is dangerous, you'll poke your pretty eyes out!

    Hi Rebecca!

I agree- the chemistry set look of the coffee maker is charming 🙂

I recently found a delay brew coffee maker at the discount store. 50% off, woo hoo! (I'd dropped my French press in the sink…) Now, my husband and I have time for coffee on our fluffy bed before our toddler wakes up.

i am also a fan of our percolator 🙂 the only problem is that it is too small! i think yours looks like a nice size. i love that deep chocolatey taste it give my morning brew. unlike any other.

  7. We make a French press every morning. I try to do some reading with my coffee before the little ones wake up.my day is so much better if I have that first 30 minutes to myself 🙂

Coffee prep is a secret indulgence of mine. Currently I stock my house with cold brew iced coffee and I make a variety of simple syrups. Or (seeing I work at a coffee house) I make up fun espresso drinks… think rosemary infused milk.

you paint a lovely picture.. i don't have a steer or flowers.. but just enjoying coffee without toddler pulling at me.. and being able to finish my coffee while still warm is the best feeling.. it's those days that i know today's going to be a good day..

Love these photos! I love enjoying my coffee each morning.

  12. Someone gave me a cute pink vintage percolator as a wedding gift, but I have yet to use it! I am still in love with my french press. And like you, I try really hard to sip my cup of coffee in the kitchen before work, rather than taking it to go (although drinking it on the metro ride in is not bad, either). But there is something about taking a minute to remember that the day is not about rushing.
