thrifty entertaining | glassware

Glassware is one of my weaknesses and I find it hard to resist colored/textured/interesting drinking glasses. Lucky for me, thrift shops are abounding in unique, like-new glassware. The only glasses I have that were purchased new were a wedding gift.
These colorful thrifted pieces make a great addition to a table setting, and don’t look too bad on an open shelf for storage. During this month of Spring Cleaning, I’m working on finding creative ways for using my collection of glassware in decorating, since we don’t have extra room for storage for lots and lots of breakables. One way I’m achieving this is prominently placing a stainless steel shelf in the corner of our studio, for the purpose of housing beautiful thrifted finds. In one big open room, this shelf becomes a focal point of decor, and guests will certainly notice this large shelf. So, I just make sure to only display interesting items, style them intentionally, and keep them dust free. They’re seamlessly worked into my home, without cluttering, and they are on standby for the next time I’m setting the table or styling a shoot.

These are a few of my favorite pieces. That light green set is my newest, and my favorite. I found pieces at two local thrift shops (Goodwill in Sterling and Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Shop in Purcellville). When I spotted them at the second shop, I think I pounced (and, Blue Ridge was running a 50% sale on kitchenware). What a surprise to find more of these gorgeous glasses; I just love the soft arrow pattern.

I plan on using many of these pieces at an upcoming Mother’s Day Brunch I’m hosting, so expect to see them styled on a pretty table soon!

Do you have a collection of thrifted glassware? I’d love to see your favorites!
