Harvesting With a New Garden Tote

Each day, I’m a little more thankful for our charming loft, the land around us, and our kind landlords. Our kitchen window overlooks the sheep pasture; our bedroom window, the vegetable garden. Almost every day, I’m visited by our landlords’ grandchildren, always bearing gifts (kombucha, fresh flowers, etc.) Recently, our landlord told us we could pick flowers and veggies from her gardens. She has peonies, roses, ferns, kale, lettuce, garlic….and so much more!

And oh, her vegetable garden! I’ve been watching it progress from our bedroom window this Spring, and I cannot explain how thrilled I am that we can reap from its bounty! Last night, I picked some fresh greens for our dinner and a bit of mint for fresh tea. I was happy to use my new garden tote from Gifts.com; it made the harvesting fun and simple! I just piled everything inside, and placed the mint and some flowering chard in the outside pockets. How quaint!

Is there one thing about your home that you’re particularly thankful for? It’s difficult for me to narrow down to one thing but if I had to name just one, I think it’d be the land. We are incredibly blessed to live in the middle of the Northern Virginia countryside, away from traffic and loud noises on our secluded little farm.

Since we’ll be moving within the next few months, I don’t want to take what we have now for granted. So with fresh mint tea in hand and a grateful heart, I’m off to enjoy the outdoors! Have a wonderful Tuesday, friends!

P.S. I’m talking cravings, must-haves, expectations…in other words, BRING PREGNANT, over on Bunny & Dolly today! Thanks for having me, PJ!

Oh friend – I wish you didn't have to move! I love this little place to breathe! It reminds me so much of the place we had where we had our first baby in Virginia – I'm all homesick now!

  2. What a lovely garden and market tote 🙂 Moving is so exciting! are you leaving the VA?

    • Rebecca says:

No, we're not leaving VA…just hopefully buying our first home this summer, since we've pretty much outgrown our loft apartment. 🙂

  3. Just found your blog. So so inspiring! We are uprooted in a place that doesn't feel like home but I am so incredibly thankful for our washing machine. It is our first home with one, since marriage and a bambino. Using cloth diapers it has now been viewed as a luxury:) I dream of a garden back in the NW, where we are from but in the meantime I am holding tight to the things we do have….Enjoy your beautiful land!

    • Rebecca says:

Thanks so much for visiting and for your sweet comment. Now that you mention it, I am thankful for our washing machine too (even if I have to go to the barn to use it). 🙂 Maybe one day, we can both have our own gardens 🙂

  4. That's an amazing garden!! We just bought a house last year but don't have any yard, just two decks, so we have some lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs on the front porch and it's been so exciting to eat salad that we grew! Wish we had a little bit more space outside but are making due. So empowering to grow your own food!
