A Daily Something Gift Guides – The Entertainer, The Home Cook, & The Imaginative Toddler

Today I’m thrilled to be sharing the first A Daily Something Gift Guide of the 2019 holiday season, in partnership with Tuesday Morning! About a year ago I discovered my local Tuesday Morning store and have made an effort to stop by every few months to check out their constantly rotating – and incredibly well priced – inventory. I love love love discovering new finds; it feels like a treasure hunt! I stopped by my local store last week to start preparing for the holidays, and after a glorious 2-hour shopping spree, I walked out with gifts for several people on my list. I’m sharing a selection of what I found, and who the gifts are for: THE ENTERTAINER, THE HOME COOK, and the IMAGINATIVE TODDLER.

First up, here are my Tuesday Morning finds for The Entertainer. We all have friends and family who love to host and welcome people into their homes, so why not boost their supply of entertaining goodies? This is the type of gift I’d personally love to receive. Why? Because it’s a basket full of yummy things you can keep in your pantry and cupboards and pull out when you’re serving guests. Voila!

GIFT GUIDE: THE ENTERTAINER

  1. Basket tray – use it to serve coffee/tea, as part of a layered centerpiece, or to serve breakfast in bed!
  2. Melamine “marble” board – the perfect addition to every host’s kitchen; how gorgeous would some cheese and grapes look on this tray?
  3. Flour sack napkins, set of 8 – I’m a firm believer that every kitchen needs a set of cotton cloth napkins, and this set from Tuesday Morning is perfect!
  4. Small marble-patterned plates, set of 4 – for dessert, for appetizers, for cheeseboards, etc. The marble pattern is muted and neutral but really interesting & beautiful.
  5. Gold appetizer forks, set of 4 – to accompany the appetizer plates, these gold forks are ideal when serving hors d’oeuvres that require flatware.
  6. Highland Speciality shortbread cookies – do these need an explanation? I could eat an entire box in one sitting, and it’s always nice to have a delicious ready-to-go dessert in the pantry for when guests stop by unexpectedly!
  7. Bonne Maman lemon curd – perhaps not your go-to item for the pantry, but this makes a scrumptious addition to a cheeseboard, breakfast buffet (lemon curd dutch baby, anyone?), or a dessert.
  8. Butter dish – butter needs to be served in a little dish like this, need I say more?
  9. Jacobsen Salt Co. – a favorite brand for salt, and this particular variety is in collaboration with Stumptown Coffee Roasters, and is infused with their coffee. It’s incredible!
  10. Lindt “A Touch of Sea Salt” Dark Chocolate – a great pantry staple to put out when hosting guests.
  11. Caviar – again, a great addition to your pantry to serve guests!

One of my favorite departments at Tuesday Morning is the gourmet foods. When I walk through their doors, I make a beeline to the gourmet food section. It’s overflowing with delicious items, and some of my personal favorite brands, at a fraction of the price. I always find Jacobsen Salt Co., Bonne Maman, and Highland Speciality. I could literally spend hours in the gourmet aisle, putting together gifts baskets and stocking my own pantry. It’s so fun to keep these items on hand for when the unexpected guest stops by.

Next, I put together a gift guide for the Home Cook. Do you have someone on your list who enjoys cooking? Not the professional chef, but someone who enjoys spending time in the kitchen and using quality tools and ingredients? This is the guide for them!

GIFT GUIDE: THE HOME COOK

  1. J.A. Henckles knives – a pairing knife and a chefs knife. Every well-equipped kitchen needs well-made, sharp knives.
  2. Italian-made farfalle – Italian made pasta is so far superior to pasta made elsewhere. And these colors are simply stunning.
  3. Whole black peppercorns – every home cook needs whole black peppercorns, and the packaging on these is beautiful.
  4. Jacobsen Salt Co. – flaky sea salt is a kitchen MUST in my opinion, and this Stumptown Coffee Roasters-infused variety is delicious on roasted root veggies. I love gifting different types so my friends can experiment!
  5. Everything + More seasoning – SUCH a tasty seasoning blend, and someone who enjoys cooking will love trying this blend on a variety of foods.
  6. Tomato paste (in a tube!) – this is basically the best invention ever, because who actually ever uses the entire small can of tomato paste? Every recipe I’ve ever tried calls for approximately 1 tbsp of tomato paste, so a tube is a genius invention! And it’s organic. I might go buy ALL of these to stock my own pantry!
  7. Preserved lemons – not everyone’s had preserved lemons, so I thought it’d be fun to include these so my friend can experiment in the kitchen with them!
  8. Organic olive oil – quality olive oil is a kitchen MUST, ’nuff said.
  9. Denim potholders – every kitchen needs durable, thick potholders, and these were such a great, neutral textile.
  10. Live edge wooden serving/cutting board – if I had to use only one serving board, I’d use a wooden one. I love spreading the wooden board love!
  11. A storage basket to coral it all – who doesn’t love receiving a basket full of kitchen goodies (and then reusing the basket somewhere in the home)?

I found these items in the gourmet food department (duh!) and the kitchen aisle. Growing up, my Nana only used J.A. Henckles knives, so I was thrilled to find this brand at Tuesday Morning, and at such a great price. And how lovely is the live edge wooden board? It’s easy to spend over $100 on a wooden board, so I was really happy to find this one for less than $20!

My last gift guide is for the Imaginative Toddler. Tuesday Morning has a plethora of incredible gifts for children; I chose a few of my favorites for my nephews and for Jojo. I love equipping children with the tools to use their imaginations, and these wooden toys do just that. You can find a wide variety of toys at Tuesday Morning, and it’s super fun to browse the aisle, finding something for all the children on your list!

GIFT GUIDE: THE IMAGINATIVE TODDLER

  1. Wooden (and magnetic) train set – my own little toddler, Jojo, is currently obsessed with trains. I love that these are detailed enough to be life-like, but small enough to get tucked away on the shelf when not in use. #tinyhouseprobs
  2. Tool belt with wooden tools and hardware – I was most excited about this find, because all of our children have LOVED playing with our real tools. But a two year old wielding daddy’s hammer isn’t always the best solution. Jojo is going to go to town playing with this set; I can just see him “fixing” all the things in our home.
  3. Wooden “traffic” set – perfect to set up with the trains and have a bustling little city.
  4. Green Toys’ play airplane (made in USA) – Jojo is not only obsessed with trains, he’s obsessed with all things that go vroom vroom (haha), so when I found this Green Toys’ plane, I knew he needed it. I love that Tuesday Morning carries this Made in USA brand!

And that’s it for this round of gift guides! Which would you most like to receive (or give)?

As soon as I got home with my Tuesday Morning finds, the girls helped me wrap everything up! My second favorite department at Tuesday Morning is their gift wrap! They always have the BEST wrapping paper. I was able to find incredibly priced, festive wrapping paper for everyone! My favorite way to wrap is to use a mixture of neutral wrapping paper combined with more Christmasy printed paper; I love the way these wrapping accessoriates are so easily mixed and matched.

It feels so good to have a handful of gifts crossed off our list for the year! I definitely recommend heading to your local Tuesday morning – click here to find the store closest to you – to find something for everyone on your list this Christmas!
