A Virtual Chat and Workshop Series to Practice Togetherness

I’m so thrilled to be launching a new little project today, a virtual chat and workshop series. With COVID-19 turning into a pandemic and requiring that we all stay home and practice social distancing, I want to help in some way. I want to raise funds for those most at need, those without income, those without food, those even without the security of a home. And I want to – in some way – practice togetherness while we’re apart, and help us do more intentional and beautiful things at home. And so, I bring to you A Gathering Series: A Daily Something Chats & Workshops.

Over the next several weeks (at least), each Tuesday and Thursday we’ll gather together for virtual chats and workshops.

  • Each Tuesday evening at 8 PM EDP, we’ll have an IG LIVE chat. These chats will be free, but if you would like to support this cause, you can donate here (just click the IG LIVE topic you’d like to watch). I’ll have a co-host (tuning in from their own home), and we’ll have a guided discussion together. You can submit questions, and we’ll have a designated time at the end to answer questions.

  • Each Thursday evening at 8 PM EDT, we’ll have a live Zoom Workshop. These workshops will be very low cost (only $10), with all the profit going to those most in need during this pandemic. These Zoom workshops will also have co-hosts (tuning in from their own home), and we’ll all learn a hands-on skill together. See below for the schedule.

You can sign up to participate here. As I mentioned, the IG LIVE chats are free, but you are welcome to donate if you plan on tuning in to these. We’ll be giving all the profits from the chats and workshops to some local non-profit organizations.

Here’s the schedule of events for the next two weeks (March 30 – April 10). We’ll be adding events to the schedule on a rolling basis, so check back or join my mailing list to be the first to know of new events.

A Gathering Series:

A Daily Something Chats & Workshops

Tuesday, March 31, 8 PM EDT – IG LIVE : Kelly Jenkins CPM, LM of Blue Ridge Birth

  • Grab your favorite beverage and tune into IG LIVE (@adailysomething) at 8 PM EDT to be part of a discussion on birth, with my lovely co-host and my own midwife, Kelly Jenkins CPM, LM of Blue Ridge Birth. We’ll chat all things birth and babies. Kelly will answer the pressing question: “Should I plan an out of hospital birth in this time of coronavirus?” and we will also cover home birth, your birth/support team, vbacs, postpartum health, and more. Kelly is a good friend, and my midwife. She’s been there for the delivery of all 4 of my children, caught 3 of them, 2 of whom were born at our home. Over the years, Kelly’s gentleness, levelheadedness, and experience has been a balm to any fears or worries I’ve had pertaining to childbirth, and my hope is that she brings you comfort in this time of uncertainty. We will answer questions, and you can submit questions by emailing my team, or ask them during our chat. This chat is free, but if you like, you can support our endeavor to aid those most at need by donating here.

Thursday, April 2, 8 PM EDT – GARDENING WORKSHOP – Mary & Emma of Lady Farmer

  • My friends Mary and Emma from Lady Farmer will be tuning in from their own homes for a Zoom workshop to discuss all things GARDENING! Grab a glass of wine or tea, a notebook and pencil, and get ready to take notes notes notes! We’ll be covering these topics (and maybe some additional topics): Victory Gardens (what and why), why you should grow your own food, foraging primer, easy ways to begin growing food for yourself, and how to get started. We will answer questions, and you can submit questions by emailing my team, or ask them at the end of our workshop. Register for this workshop here. Workshop is limited to 100 participants. All profits will be donated to a local non-profit organization.

Tuesday, April 7, 8 PM EDT – IG LIVE – Julie of It’s Julien

  • It’s SPRING, and we probably all need to give our closets a good clean out and transition them to spring. As always, grab your favorite beverage and tune into IG LIVE (@adailysomething) at 8 PM EDT to watch Julie of It’s Julien do a wardrobe clean-out at her home, and I’ll be cleaning out mine at my home. And you can clean out yours, too! We’ll chat about our most versatile (and favorite pieces), and also share some at-home looks to stay comfy and cozy while also feeling most productive. We will answer questions, and you can submit questions by emailing my team, or ask them during our chat. This chat is free, but if you like, you can support our endeavor to aid those most at need by donating here.

Thursday, April 9, 8 PM EDT – ZOOM WORKSHOP – Melinda of Knead and Know

  • My dear friend Melinda from Knead and Know will be teaching a Zoom Workshop, teaching us how to make really good bread at home. We’ll all gather supplies from our own kitchens, and Melinda will lead us in making a delicious (and versatile) dough that can be used in several different ways in the kitchen. We’ll save some time at the end to answer questions, and you can submit questions by emailing my team, or ask them at the end of our workshop. Register for this workshop here. Workshop is limited to 100 participants. All profits will be donated to a local non-profit organization.

We’ll update this post as we add events to the calendar! If you’re looking to be more intentional with your time at home, you might want to check out this post.
