I stopped by the local hardware store for some clothespins {apparently Target does not carry them} and was greeted by the friendliest old man and the most eclectic mixture of everything you might ever need.

He cheerfully pointed me in the direction of the clothespins. When I asked about lighting hardware {I didn’t actually need anything yet, but felt obligated to ask for something else – I was behaving a bit like Matthew Cuthbert from Anne of Green Gables, I suppose}, he bounced out from behind the counter and insisted on leading me to the very, very, very back of the store, past some unshelved inventory, to their lighting “department.”
He didn’t understand my logic in inquiring after lighting hardware since I haven’t yet collected all the pieces to my lamps-in-progress {have two matching bases, still need shades}. He convinced me it was impractical to purchase anything until I have all the necessary components to my lamp. I suppose he was right. 😉
This store has such a great assortment of merchandise.
The best part? They handwrite all their receipts. And calculate your total/tax manually. I asked if they took credit cards {I never have cash} he responded, “as long as it’s over $2.50.” Thankfully, I was a big spender.
A bit over priced? Maybe.
Worth it? I’d say so!
I am going to try to use these little old fashioned shops as much as possible. & honestly, I hope Home Depot never makes it out here.
Hope your weekend is beautiful!
Rebecca
p.s. Here’s a picture of Matthew Cuthbert, just because. <3

p.p.s. I just did a little research on the hardware store – it was founded in 1914 and is still owned by the original family!
