DIY | letter banner

My younger sister Deborah is graduating high school this Saturday.  I feel like it was just yesterday (when, in fact, it was 2003) that I graduated.  How time flies!

For the reception after the graduation, I made a cutout paper garland with each of the graduate’s names (inspired by this Peter Pan Party).  The color scheme is blue + silver and the theme is “reach for the stars”.

Her class is very small (18 graduates) so the garland was manageable (although it did take two people – thanks Christina – a good 4+ hours to draw and cut out the letters!)…

Here are some pictures of the process and semi-final product.

I put the garlands (when I took the pics I still had a few garlands to make) up in my mom’s living room to take these pics – the actual reception is in a larger, less inviting room (school cafeteria) – I hope the garlands help to make the reception room cozier!

I definitely want to try these out again…maybe using lyrics or quotes next time.

Have a wonderful weekend, lovelies!

till Monday,

Rebecca

Wow, cutting out eighteen names! That is a lot of dedication! I remember my teachers in elementary school having a special machine that made colorful big paper letters for their cork boards. I wonder if they still sell those? Probably not as cool as your letters turned out though 🙂

I love the idea of using lyrics or notes. Especially for a fun party. Awesome job!
