sunbathe or work?

Living at home means I get to eat delicious, fresh produce, and lots and lots of salads.  Everyday.

Avocados are pretty much one of my favorite foods…and that white stuff…it’s celery root (my mom is part of an organic produce coop, and they’re just moving out of root season) and very delicious.

And my mom grew this asparagus in her garden – it’s SO tasty, and not stringy at all.  Yum!

Growing up, I wasn’t too keen on gardening (I always wanted to sunbathe) but I’m *trying* to foster better grownup habits now.  It’s super rewarding to see the finished product of a weeded and mulched bed, watch seedlings grow, and pick fresh blueberries…

What’s your attitude towards outside work?  Would you rather work inside?  Lounge by the pool?

till tomorrow,

Rebecca

P.S. Today, I’m doing a photoshoot of my friend’s house.  You’ll see it later this week, hopefully. Her home is incredible!!

  1. I'm a lounger – luckily I have a guy who loves to do that stuff. He's monitoring the tomatoes for frost every day 🙂

I'm to fair skinned to sun bathe so by default I'd put a hat and sunscreen on and do gardening. But I love both =)

  3. Nicole says:

I agree with you – I'd be lying in the sun if I had my pick, but I wish I could make a labour of love out of gardening. Seeing your pictures and reading "The Dirty Life" (a wonderful farming story) make me ache for fresh, whole foods that you can walk outside and pick yourself!

  4. Victoria says:

I would probably prefer to lounge, but I too enjoy picking fresh food right outside my front door.

  5. Becs says:

I used to work as a gardener in the summers while going to university, and am now a big fan of (light) gardening. I have a planter of herbs on the deck, and am always trimming the parsley and despairing over the straggly basil. That salad looks delish!

  6. Rebecca says:

Becs, thanks…the salad was very good. I love fresh, light foods for summer!!
