thrifty entertaining | the simple snack tray

Through my new “Thrifty Entertaining” column, I hope to regularly provide inspiring images and ideas for entertaining, mainly using thrift store purchases.  My closets at home are overflowing with purchases, most less than $5, just waiting to be put to use when entertaining guests.

Thrift stores are the best place to find dishes, bowls, trays, vases, candle holders, etc.  They come in a variety of textures, colors, sizes, and usually only ever need a thorough wash before use.  I never know what I might find when I thrift, which makes it a constant adventure.

I believe that it’s essential to have a ready supply of refreshments and beautiful serving pieces for when an impromptu guest stops by.  Who knows when you’ll have to throw together that last minute snack tray?

Photography and styling by Rebecca Beach for A Daily Something.

Today’s post is dedicated to the simple snack tray: homegrown grapes, organic pecan halves, pecorino romano cheese, and gluten-free crackers, all displayed beautifully in silver and wooden serving dishes.  Takes about 5 minutes to prepare, and your guests will certainly be impressed (well, it impressed my 2 year-old nephew, who was allowed to “thnack” when the photoshoot was finished).

And those flower pods?  I rescued a handful from my grandmother’s garden, and they’re now spread around my mom’s home!

Hope to share many more inspiring ideas with you, friends!

till tomorrow,

Rebecca
