My new favorite item of clothing is this HUGE man sweater. It kept me warm all weekend, so we’re best friends.
This weekend was quite the adventure. The snow started to fall Saturday morning and it didn’t let up until Sunday morning. We got about 10 inches. In October! We lost our power early Saturday afternoon, and are still without (which means no computer, phones or internet). All day Saturday we stayed safe inside, huddled around our woodstove, reading books and heating up our food//tea on the woodstove. We have a generator, but it only powers our well and a few other necessities.
The snow was fun and so unexpected!
Sunday, we were finally able to drive on the roads, and spent the day at our friends’ house. And Monday, I was sick (I wonder if sleeping in a 48 degree room had anything to do with it…?) Were you affected by the October Snow Storm of 2011? 😉
My wonderful and creative friend Wendy trekked outside with me on Sunday (in the snow) to take these style photos. She’s such a trooper (and I love her photography!)…
Here are my outfit details:
sweater: J Crew (rescued from my mom’s “reject” pile this fall…)
jeans: Target
leather boots: Target
earrings: borrowed from my sister’s dresser
scarf: thrifted (Unique Thrift Store in Paterson, NJ)
mittens: thrifted (Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Shop in Purcellville, VA)
Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!!
till tomorrow,
Rebecca
P.S. Have you entered my Shabby Apple necklace giveaway? It ends this Friday!

I've been hearing about all this snow but just can't seem to fully wrap my mind around it being that time already! Though, I am excited to get snowed in 🙂 Stay warm!
That snow is crazy! It is still in the 80s here and I am so jealous of you! Also, so glad you rescued that sweater, it is so sweet and cozy. xo

It looks like so much fun, the jumper is great too. You can't beat wrapping up warm and heading out into the cold, fresh snow (even if it is October), I'm kind of envious (just a little bit). I'm in London UK and we barely get any here EVER! Hope things are back to normal soon but enjoy it in the meantime 🙂
i was in philly for my bday and was delighted with the snow…not the amt y'all got!

I can't believe how much snow you got!! It's crazy that this winter weather is starting already! Hope you get your power back soon!
Wow, I'm so jealous that you get to wear a chunky sweater like that. I can kinda wear a sweater now, but by late afternoon it comes off. Enjoy the snow!!!

I love all these snowy photos-I can't wait for our East Coast trip to wear my boots and sweaters!
I love this look! The cable knit texture is key – one time when adding bulk is a good thing! And hey, if you get sick of the cold and want to live vicariously through the summer… come visit some Aussie bloggers… summer's just heating up down here!

Snow?! So jeals…I love your scarf!
You are so beautiful and I love your boots! So jealous of all that snow!
I can't believe it. Really. Crazy, we had upper 80's here in So Cal! But how pretty and fun first snowfall is. You got to break out the winter clothes which is kinda neat! I'd rescue that sweater too!
I could see the animation this time! So cute! You guys had so much more snow than we did, lucky ducks!
Yep… probably won't be any snow in our Texas future for some time. I can hardly imagine wearing a coat right now! Looks like you're having fun though. I'll just have to live vicariously through your posts for the time being. 🙂
Perfect outfit for Fall with this Ladies sweater! Great post!
