This week I helped my friends at Greenstone Fields throw an Evening With Flowers (#GSFEveningWithFlowers) at their flower farm in Purcellville, VA. The farm is just up the road from my home, and I was so grateful for the chance to support this local business. I had such a blast working with them on this magical evening, and now I want every dinner & event I host to be at a flower farm!

The event brought together local floral designers, wedding & event planners, and creatives, with the intention of raising awareness for local, organic floral products. Since meeting Barbara and Dennis a few years ago, and getting to know them much better after working on this event with them, I have so much respect for them & flower farming. Barbara and Dennis have chosen to be an organic farm, and after trying to manage the weeds in our tiny vegetable and flower gardens for 2 years, I cannot imagine weed control for 100s of acres.

We wanted to keep the event simple and really emphasize the beauty of Barbara and Dennis’ flower farm! Folks arrived and were greeted with a cold glass of Greenheart Juice. We set up a DIY flower station (guests got to take home a mason jar full of flowers they designed), a fun photo booth with an instant film camera, and light bites and drinks. The Locke Store prepared our delicious menu of hummus and tapenade, roasted vegetable tarts (my favorite), bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado bites, and tomato bruschetta, which we set up in the midst of their blackberry rows. I  made the tasty (if I say so myself, haha) blueberry mint vodka lemonade (with mint and vodka from Greenstone Fields), which was nestled between rows of ripe blueberries! Folks roamed the fields of flowers, Barbara shared about their vision & mission, and that was it!

This event was possible because of so many generous hands! Tiffany King got the ball rolling and organized the planning. My girls at Sweet Root Village generously photographed for us, and put together the floral arrangements and photo booth vine & berry swag…my favorite design element! Greenheart Juice Shop brought their watermelon juice (with watermelon, mint, lime, and aloe vera juice), and hand poured it for everyone! These ladies (and their juice) are a pure delight! Kelley at Brain Flower Designs designed our invitation and hand lettered the signs at the party; Kelley is so talented & I love her work!

So grateful for the chance to help plan and to style this magical evening. Let’s do it again, folks!

  1. […] We had the pleasure of joining forces with Greenstone Fields and A Daily Something for this amazing event to promote the farm! Had a blast capturing all the fun and making a few pretty floral pieces for the bites and sips tables! Such a beautiful evening on the farm basking in the sun and soaking up some good conversation with friends and fellow industry professionals! Enjoy some additional images on Rebecca’s blog! […]
