DIY Essential Oil Rollers

I love gifts that promote personal and family wellness, and I’ve found the perfect holiday gift for anyone that you can make for everyone on your list. The best part of this these little DIY essential oil rollers is that they are customizable and easily made in batches.  Bonus: they are also super pretty. I love the idea of including them in a gift basket (one of my favorite types of gifts to give) this holiday season!

Essential oils seems to be such a trend these days, but using them for daily needs can be confusing territory. How much essential oil is needed? How do you use them safely? Enter: Essential oil rollers. These travel-sized rollers are perfect for everything from stress relief blends to a daily skincare routine to a natural germ-fighting weapon for kids, and the essential oils are perfectly diluted for safe use. Here’s how to make these rollers with just a few simple materials and minutes of your time.

GATHER THESE SUPPLIES

Essential Oil Roller Bottles
– Carrier Oil, such as fractionated coconut oil
– Essential Oils (I love Young Living, and you can order a starter kit here)
– Small funnel (if you order the above roller bottles, the funnel is included)
– Simple decoration: I used twine, some pine branches from my yard, and gift tags

DIRECTIONS

Decide on what blends you are going to make! There are recipes ALL over the internet, so just decide who you’re making these for, and what you’d like to help them with, and then experiment with different combinations.

The best part about these is that they are completely customizable. For example, you could make the kid’s blend for every mom on your list, and make a relaxation blend for those in your life who might need help de-stressing.

Fill each bottle with your carrier oil using the small funnel, until just below the top of the bottle. Then carefully add drops of the essential oils in your blend. Screw on the top, gently swirl around the oils to mix, and that’s it! Test your blend on your wrist, adjusting drop amounts for stronger potency, if desired.

Now it’s time to label and decorate! Tie twine in a simple knot around the top of the bottle. Cut a small sprig of pine or other greenery, and fit it into the loop. Then tie a simple bow. Add a label with the name of your blend handwritten on the front. Add a gift tag and ingredients for your recipient!

Done! These are perfect for stuffing in stockings, giving to coworkers, making for family members and friends, or keeping for yourself! These are also the perfect travel size, so don’t forget them in your overnight or toiletry bag.

HERE ARE THE 3 BLENDS I MADE:

  1. Cough Support (promotes respiratory health): 4 drops eucalyptus, 2 drops frankincense, 2 drops lemon.
  2. Relaxation: 4 drops lavender, 2 drops frankincense, 2 drops lemon
  3. Kids – Happy Lungs (supports respiratory health): 1 drop cardamom, 1 drop frankincense

  4. Gloria says:

An amazing diy, I’m thinking on making some! But one question, does the coconut oil harden back up after it’s melted??

    • Rebecca says:

Hi there Gloria! Hope you try out this simple essential oil roller DIY! 🙂 Great question! If you use fractionated coconut oil, it won’t harden at cooler temps. I link to the proper oil in the supplies list! Enjoy!
