Gift Guide : Home Utility

For the person who loves to fill their home with beautiful, functional items, this HOME UTILITY GIFT GUIDE is for you. I find that when I have thoughtfully designed, minimal tools to help get the work done around the house, I’m much more inclined to actually clean. It brings me joy. Since acquiring a well made wash bucket, I cleaned my kitchen floors more in the span of a few months than I had the previous 4 years.

Enjoy this selection of beautiful home utility items!

HOME UTILITY GIFT GUIDE:

  1. Swinging Dome Wall Light – I’ve added these to our home “wish list” – we have nothing on our living room walls, and I think these are just stunning;
  2. Wire Storage Basket – perfect for corralling potatoes or toys or wires;
  3. Pastry Brush – every kitchen needs a pastry brush, and I love that these come in two sizes;
  4. Leather and Wood Flyswatter – if you HAVE to swat the flies, you may as well do it in style. This is something I don’t mind having on display in my mudroom;
  5. Wooden Toilet Brush in Stand – again, if dirty work must be done, it may as well be done with something well made and designed; this toilet bowl brush and stand are no exception;
  6. Fog Linen Full Apron – Fog Linen, perhaps one of the originators of the modern love for linen, makes the perfect apron (and napkins and towels and clothing items);
  7. Table Brush – THIS! I have this on my personal wish list; what a brilliant invention for between courses, or to tidy up a small mess on the table without clearing everything away to shake out the tablecloth;
  8. Matte Black Wash Buckets – I’ve searched HIGH AND LOW for buckets like these and here they are, by Redecker, of course;
  9. Copper Scrubbies – beautiful and incredibly functional scrubbies for the kitchen;
  10. Barn Broom – form and function, for more than just the barn;
  11. Wooden Handled Dish Drainer – I have this in my kitchen and it actually makes we WANT to wash dishes by hand; it really is as lovely as it seems;
  12. Rattan Carpet Beater – pretty enough to just hang on the wall, and if you actually use it for beating your carpets, good for you 😉
  13. Olive Oil Soap – I love putting out bar of soap in the powder room, and this one is the prettiest (and it works well);
  14. Pot Brushes – I have two of these: one for cleaning pots and one for scrubbing veggies like carrots and potatoes;
  15. Cotton Twine and Dispenser – this is great for the kitchen, but also for wrapping gifts; mine basically lives on the counter at Christmastime, ready to tie up all the brown paper packages;
  16. Wooden Storage Boxes – I get so many questions about the mini wooden storage boxes in my kitchen, but they’re all one-of-a-kind vintage; when I found these, I was ecstatic, because they’re a close match to what I use everyday!
