Gift Guide : The Teen Girl At Heart

When I sat down to start this GIFT GUIDE FOR THE TEEN GIRL [AT HEAR], I realized I had NO clue what teenagers in 2019 *want*. So, I texted my siblings and young[er] friends. I was advised to google “vsco girl”. Am I the only person to HADN’T heard that phrase before? I am WAY out of touch.

Anyway, this gift guide isn’t necessarily for the vsco girl. It’s actually more for a 33 year old woman who FEELS like she’s still 16 (me!). I tried to tap into what young girls what might actually want while also encouraging creativity and doing things with their hands (like sewing and making things and painting). It’s OK to want a Fjallraven backpack, but it’s also ok to want to learn how to sew and make clothes by hand.

Enough with the words and on with the Gift Guide For The Teen Girl [At Heart]…

THE TEEN GIRL AT HEART GIFT GUIDE

  1. Gold Stork Sewing Scissors: These beauties are perfect for all the sewing projects and friendship bracelets that are bound to be made.
  2. Sewing Essentials Kit: Help her learn how to sew with this super beautiful Merchant & Mills sewing kit, which includes these notions: bobbins with black and white thread, needles in a glass tube, pins, shirt buttons, a paper tape measure and scissors, all in an etched silver tin.
  3. Canon Ivy CLIQ Instant Camera Printer: Instant cameras are [still] all the rage, and for good reason. Kids these days have very little knowledge of film and actual printed photos; help them preserve some memories.
  4. Everlane Fleece Sweatshirt: Soft, Pink, and Ultra Cozy.
  5. Silk Scrunchies: I’m happy scrunchies have made a comeback. This silk set from Urban Outfitters is beautiful, and I love the unusual size.
  6. Cozy Socks: The comfier the better. Socks for Christmas might be overdone/cliché but honestly, socks for Christmas is one of the best gifts out there.
  7. Friendship Bracelet Pattern Book: not just ANY pattern book. This one provides blank bracelet pattern templates for you to color and annotate as you need. Includes spaces for recording progress, as well as blank sheets between templates for jotting down notes and ideas.
  8. Rainbow Floss Kit: I love the idea of gifting teens with something useful to do with their hands; this floss kit has pretty much every color, and when paired with the pattern book, will help them be creative.
  9. Glossier: Really, anything from Glossier. Some of my favorites include the Cloud Paint, Pro Tip, Generation G, Boy Brow, and Futuredew.
  10. Sticky Notes: Slightly transparent. I need about 50 boxes of these.
  11. Painting Kit: This brilliant kit comes with a big canvas and paint and lines, and you DIY the painting part. Fail proof, and incredibly satisfying to make your own art.
  12. Elementary Sewing Skills Book: I think everyone should have sewing skills, and this is a lovely book that does the job!
  13. Everlane Wool Beanie: Super cute and comfy.
  14. Hair Clips: Apparently all the things from my teen years are coming back.
  15. Fjallraven Backpack: #vscogirl, ’nuff said.
  16. Initial Necklaces: for her bff, her bf, herself.
  17. Record Player: I honestly think every household should have a record player. I love the way it draws people together, in awe and fascination.
