a classy bachelorette party

This week, a reader is wondering how to design an evening bachelorette party without falling into all the stereotypical “bachelorette party” traps.  She wants the party to be beautiful, classy and fun, but everything she’s finding is tacky.
Planning a non-traditional (traditional being let’s go bar-hopping, wear a plastic “BRIDE-TO-BE” pin, and not remember anything the next day) bachelorette party might be frowned upon in today’s culture, but it is definitely something that I’d recommend.  Not sure if you are planning on going out or staying in (I’m a big fan of doing a combination of the two), but hopefully you’ll be inspired with these ideas.

First, you’ll want to keep in mind the purpose of the party.  The purpose of a bachelorette party is to celebrate the bride’s last night of being a single woman and to have a girly, fun night, right?

With that in mind, I love the idea of no boys allowed (the picture below is from Utterly Engaged‘s wild camping bachelorette party)!

If you’re not up for the whole camping thing, I think it’s fun to go out for a little while…get dinner and a few fun drinks at a beautiful restaurant, then come back to someone’s house for more celebration, gifts, etc.

My perfect bachelorette party is an evening garden celebration that includes lots of beautiful handmade decorations, some tasty desserts and fruity drinks, a game or two, gifts (frilly lingerie is always nice) and just generally, some girl time.  A sleepover is fun, too!

I think the color pink (in all shades) is perfect for this type of party.  Cozy lighting is also an essential.

Here are some beautiful inspirations…
