On peonies, from Sweet Root Village:
I love peonies. I want them everywhere, all the time. I look forward to
those brief months each year and savor every single bloom while they’re
here. Simply toss a handful in a vase and admire them by themselves or
arrange with other blooms for a little more variety. They also make
wonderful gifts! And if you aren’t one of those lucky ones with peonies
in your garden, then I’m sure a few freshly baked cookies brought to a
neighbor who is, could remedy that.
For our June collaboration with, we decided to showcase the intricate beauty of peonies. So Lauren and Rachel got to work designing (and photographing) two stunning, flowing arrangements, using local farm fresh peonies as the main focal point (you’ll see the second design next week!). We even got to choose some of the peonies from LynnVale’s delivery truck – Andrea happened to visit the studio while we were shooting, with loads of gorgeous blooms!
We decided to use these wooden vessels for the arrangement, just simply stacked one inside the other, to allow the branches and blooms to spill over and cascade every which way. Working with Sweet Root Village has taught me to think outside the box when choosing my vessel and a particular assortment of flowers and greens.
I’m constantly scanning the roadside/fields/our landlord’s gardens for unique branches and blooms that I wouldn’t ordinarily be drawn towards. Jasmine and eucalyptus are two greens that cascade beautifully, and flowering branches are a wonderful way to gain height and body in your arrangement.
What better way to enjoy the natural beauty of peonies than taking the time to sit down for a cup of tea and pastries from Misha’s? (And how quaint is that mantel
and fireplace?) I hope you’ve been able to enjoy fresh peonies this Spring, and are inspired to bring a little bit of nature indoors, to provide a constantly changing source of beauty and continually fresh finishing touch to your surroundings.

What a gorgeous arrangement! The "vase" you used is genius. I'm absolutely in love with peonies– they add so much elegance and drama to a space.
Oh, I'm so envious of you have the skills and the access to such gorgeous blooms to create this! And the use of a two-level container is a great tip!
My goodness, this is absolutely stunningly beautiful!! Gorgeous work, ladies. I'm a huge fan of peonies and miss the abundant blooms my mom has in her yard in TN. If I hadn't been married in August, I would have used all her flowers up for the wedding!
Again, gorgeous collaboration!
If that isn't the prettiest way I've ever seen flowers displayed. Thanks for that great idea!
Really, really love these photos, exactly the kind of style I love 🙂
