Chore and School Routine Cards

Today is the day! I’m launching an exciting FREE resource for YOU: a very intentionally designed bundle of 48 Chore and School Routine Cards. These cards will help you as you create a system of easy-to-implement routines and rhythms for your day, and help get your children excited and ready to do chores and schoolwork. Simply download, print, and use!

I dreamt up these chore and school routine cards over 5 years ago, and worked with my incredibly talented cousin on the illustrations. Now, they’re finally HERE! The cards are sweet and minimal and go with any style. They’re for the homeschool parent, the work-from-home parent, the stay-at-home parent, or anyone who would like to cultivate some gentle rhythms in their household. They’d also make a sweet gift to a mama-to-be.

The cards can be displayed almost anywhere, and printed in a variety of ways. And I can almost guarantee they’ll get your children excited about doing their chores and completing their schoolwork. These chore and school routine cards are perfect for toddlers and the early elementary years, as they include both hand-drawn illustrations and words.

This first bundle of Chore and School Routine cards includes 48 common chores and school subjects. We are already working on a second bundle to release later this year. Below, I’ve included a complete list of the chores and school subjects in this first bundle.

HOW TO: PRINT THE CARDS

After downloading the you’ll need to print [and laminate, if you wish] them, which is simple! The easiest option (but not always most cost effective) is sending them to a local print shop to print and laminate for you. Alternatively, you can print and laminate at home. Or just skip the laminating and just print on card stock, cut them out, and call it a day. Laminators are not very expensive, and laminating will make them more durable. I love the idea of having the children color in the images with colored pencils before laminating.

We recently purchased this laminator, which came highly recommended from several homeschool families. It has over 57,000 reviews on Amazon, and we’ve enjoyed it so far. I ordered off-brand laminating sheets.

HOW TO: USE THE CARDS

My toddlers and early elementary children love to use these chore and school cards. There are many ways to implement the cards. My nine year old daughter has her simple morning routine (get dressed, brush your teeth, brush your hair, make your bed) displayed on a slate chalkboard on her dresser. She likes the visual reminder each morning.

For our morning and afternoon chores, each child’s chore is affixed to the fridge with a magnet, and they move the card from one side to the other upon completing each day. You can hang them on the wall with tape, use velcro dots or magnet dots, or hang them with pushpins on a bulletin boards. Even clothespins and string would work. Whatever works best for your family!

SCHOOL SUBJECT CARDS

The subject routine cards are perfect for toddlers all the way through second or third grade (or older, depending on your child). For my younger children, we focus on handwriting, phonics, reading, math, nature, and some history & science. I simply hang the cards on our schoolroom door, and they can choose the order in which we complete the subjects each day.
